1st Mission: Capiz 2018

It has been 2 years since my very first time speaking in front of public about the had Catholic Faith. That first time was never the last, God given me opportunity, time and time again, to continue to speak in front of the public.

I committed to be part of Jesus to Mankind crusade prayer group on the December of 2017. This decision  decision influenced greatly - not from the people within my community but from the instructions of Jesus contained in the Book of Truth. Never thought that I would be a missionary in a span of a year being a prayer warrior. My first mission took place in Capiz - the seafood capital of the Philippines!!

How it Happened

We had our JTM brother who went home from abroad and request to have the JTM Cebu do mission in their place Roxas, Capiz. It so happened only one missionaries who can go outside Cebu is not available because others already had schedule in Mindanao area. At that time I've been attending mission talk in Cebu areas so I am familiar with the topics discussed. (We use uniform Powerpoint in mission so as ensure that only the messages from the Book of Truth is shared in the Mission).

So our coordinator asked me if I am willing to accompany the main speaker to assist - preparing the materials to be given after the talk and be prayer warrior while the talk is on-going. I accepted it since I will only assist and it will only be on weekend.

---> Bro Noel welcomed us in their home

Travel Experience

Friday evening we departed from Cebu and arrived the next day in Iloilo port. We travelled for 3 hours from Iloilo port to Roxas, Capiz. Then we'll have the talk 1pm - 5pm in the afternoon. That's the plan unfortunately, not all plans are smooth. Due to the delay in the arrival of the ship, we arrive in Capiz around 2pm and had to adjust our pacing so that we can finish the whole presentation.

We carried 2 cardboard box full of printed materials, pamphlets, prayer booklet and books. We have our personal bags with personal things and laptop and we also carry a bag containing the projector. It's quite heavy so whenever we carry it to change transport we always ask our guardian angel for help.

Unexpected Turns

Since it was a first it was expected that many "bloppers" happened. The very first is wardrobe crisis! I was informed that we will only have a one-day mission talk (travel Friday and be back Monday morning). Unexpectedly, the mission stretched to 2 weeks!

How it happened? It is not because our ability to speak in front but because the people who listened were touched by the messages of Jesus that they wanted others who are not present to listen to Jesus. We were surprised when Bro Noel (the host) asked us if it is possible to extend our stay because there are many groups that are open to listen. We consulted this to our coordinator and since there are no conflict in mine and Rush's schedule we were extended. Fortunately, God gave us money through Bro Noel to resolve our lack of dress.

The next day we went out to buy dress and visit the Parish and have Holy Hour in the Adoration Chapel.

This is one of the statue of Mama Mary, Our Lady of  Grace. The image is the same in the Miraculous Medal.

On the left side is the Adoration Chapel of the Parish.
This the Parish's Grotto which imitates the Grotto in Our Lady of Lourdes, France. Most of the Church in the Philippines have Grotto.

In France where Mama Mary appeared to St. Bernadette, she (Our Lady) confirmed that:

"I am the Immaculate Conception" ("que soy era immaculada concepciou")

After staying for a week in Capiz, we travelled to Bacolod to do mission before going back to Cebu. We went to seafood restaurant before sending us off in the morning.

Bro Noel gave the community (Jesus to Mankind) the statue of Mama Mary. This fellow passenger saw the statue and asked us if can hold it while we are waiting for the vessel.

The Place

The first that I observe in Capiz is the proof  why it is called "Seafood capital of the Philippines". In the local market or in the seafood farm, you can purchase the oyster and crab at very low price compared with those in restaurant. The seafood are healthy not in as sense that they are good food for the health but their growth. The oyster is fresh and sweet. I finished the plate of oyster below, good thing our host gave us the tip on how to avoid having stomach problem.
  • He said not to eat the hard part that sticks onto the shell.
The crab for me is a luxury so I really enjoyed eating them. They did not cooked in fancy way, only steamed in hot water with salt and vinegar. They taste very delicious even without other condiments, that is why I say that the crabs are very healthy.

Seafood from Capiz: fresh and healthy. This is after the 1st talk and Bro Noel asked us to extend our mission.

Then the second thing I observed is that they are blessed with these food because of their devotion to God. Every morning, I hear from their Parish the recitation of the Holy Rosary. They also have many religious organization in their place.

Lesson

Whenever I recall this memory I learned that:
  • It is very important to prepare: 1. review the slide and what the Church teaches, no need to give your opinion but re-echo - these were handed down from Jesus to the apostles, it can never go wrong. 2. have confession, go to the Blessed Sacrament consecrate to Him the mission and yourself.
  • If the baggage is very heavy ask your guardian angel to help you carry it.
  • In doing mission, I observe that it is better to have minimum of 2, one will carry out speaking the other will be the prayer warrior for the success of the mission.
  • Do not give personal interpretation when sharing the messages in the Book of Truth instead be a good reader so that they can listen the Words of the Lord.

We went to Iloilo City Port to get more materials new participants. Side trip is in one of the bakeshop I visited when I had trip in Iloilo with Cha (littlemissadvencha)
