The Beauty of Aging

Many people invest so much on products to look young. They don't want to show that they are aged or aging. They don't want to see the progress of signs of aging. But little did we the beauty of aging. This is what I listened from the sermon of the parish priest during the mass.

Aging is beautiful. Simply because it is the design of God. All things He made are beautiful and so aging is beautiful also. But why is it so? Originally, God created human perfect, without deformities. Before everything came He already have blueprint of each and one of us.Perfect. Beautiful. And EVERLASTING/ IMMORTAL. Meaning, no aging. But now, look what happened why did we age? It is because the earth was soiled by Satan, the ancient serpent. Because of the ORIGINAL SIN committed by our original parents, Adam and Eve we experienced death - death of soul.

So the plan of God was destroyed. All the beautiful things that we should have, our rightful inheritance was stripped off. But God in His wisdom gave us a gift which enables us to gain again this inheritance. He gave us what we call AGING. This, He allowed in order to "reboot" to His original plan. This is the beauty of aging.

Time of Contemplation

As we age, we are maturing. One of the beauty of aging is the element itself, TIME. And being on  senior age, we have more time for ourselves. We will have a lot of time. This time is given to us to contemplate, to reflect and have more time in prayer and communication to Him. We have this time to ponder what we have done and look the state of our soul. Isn't it good? During our early years, we don't have time for this things because we are so busy to survive, provide for our families or to prove ourselves. But now that we are aged, we can stop doing that and focus on spiritual growth.

Time of Family

In senior year, we are given more time to spend to our families. We are able to see our children's children grow and we become part of them. Why grandchildren? Because often times your children is busy in work or business. On the other hand, we also experience what God is experiencing that is the beauty of aging. So let us accept this aging, it is such privilege to be like Him.  We experience the longing He feels for His children. We experience the sadness He experience when we neglect and abandon Him. We experience the happiness and joy He feels when one of His children remember Him and talk to Him. So in this time of longing, sadness and joy, let us unite ourselves to Him and offer all these things to Him.

Time of Preparation

Today, many people died early not experiencing old age. If you are senior offer simple gratitude to God for letting you experience the beauty of aging. During this time yourself is in silence, no busy schedule and have plenty of time. This time was given to prepare for the most beautiful life which is everlasting. This is the time given to those who have no knowledge and in denial there is God and we should be with Him and not doomed in the abyss of hell. I have to mention hell because this place is terrorizing should not and must not be our destiny. This time [old age] should be used wisely. We need to prepare so that we are fit to His Home, our rightful inheritance on the face of Judgement seat. And this [old age] my dear must be used for conversion, constant prayer, gratitude toward God and repentance.

Time of Letting Go

Another beauty of aging is the difficulties that we experience. Yes, I know we don't like it because it is very uncomfortable.Arthritis.White hairs. Wrinkles and dull skin. Our back, knees and fingers ache. We walk like a turtle. So on and so forth. Looking at our picture year ago, reminiscing our vigor and and comparing to what we us now, sometime we can't help feel distress. And that my dear is the beauty of aging. It is a time of renunciation. Meaning we have time to let go of earthly attractions and turn to God praying for the everlasting bliss when He calls us to Him. It is time to let of these obsessive thing which mean nothing when we are facing Him on our Judgement. It is time to let go of self love.

This [old age] is the time to let go of all the anger and all other heavy things that we bear. Where will we let it go? To Him. Use this time wisely that at end we will be able to find the true peace. We can say: let go and let God. "I have let go everything that would disturb my peace with You. I am ready".

God wants us to bear good fruits and not bad one so that the tree wont be cut down and thrown into fire [hell]. So stop all the whining, embrace it and use it wisely.
