April's Challenge: The Dream Job

For this challenge, let's look back into our childhood memories.

When kids were asked "what do you want to be when you grow up" can we consider there answer as their dream job? Then did you remember yours [answer] when your once little? Do you still consider it your dream job? Some will says "yes", others probably "no", few might say "quite close".

As I've experienced and observed our dream job in younger years are influenced by our idealistic view in the world. Because it feels good to help people most kids would answer: teacher, doctor, police, lawyer etc. In the book titled October Sky which was based on true story, the main character molded, discovered and pursued his dream job because of the launching of the Sputnik 1. He was inspired to build a rocket that would also reach the outer space. Later he became NASA engineer. You see kids dream is also a dream job though a very long term, very far and needs a lot of effort.

Let us recall when we are in high school. What did we wrote in career interview? High school period especially nearing the senior years, our dream job are starting to have the touch of practicality. Career counseling starts on this stage. In most cases students were advised for their career based from their performance since their are entrance exams for college. Rudy [movie] also experienced this hurdle when he pursue his dream. He wanted to play football in Notre Dame but because of low grade, no fund and lack in talent physical would not be qualified to enroll in the university.

For working age there is possibility to have conflict between your dream job and ideal job. There are many of us who opt to  ideal job which is very suitable and comfortable set up. There is contentment in staying in ideal job because it is stable where you won't worry or fear. But the one thing that is lacking in ideal job is - PASSION. Your dream job is molded because of passion. This passion push the people to stake everything, be determined, inspired and strive that dream.

Whether ideal job or dream job you will always have problem in work. This problem could be caused by your client or boss or colleague. It will depend on your perspective to be happy with what you have and continue to grow.
